National Marine Sanctuaries

This is the doorway to the National Marine Sanctuaries .

Look for this picture at the bottom of the page. You can click on each of the sanctuaries and search.

All these places are spectacular. You should have a first and second choice, we wouldn't all want to do the same one.

When you have made your choices, write them down with a couple of reasons that led you to your decisions.

A reason why we really might need these sanctuaries.... watch this!

And where does all this end up?

  2. Michael I agree with you completely. I think they did a great job with the video, and really got the message across. San Francisco Bay and Tampa Bay have a lot in common when it comes to plastic bags.

  3. I thought that the video let you see that there are so many plastic bags that end up in the bay and they can hurt marine life and animals that live along the shore. They made their message in a creative way that would get more people to recycle their plastic bags.

  4. Is there really that much plastic bags and garbage in the bay that it's covering all the water? I couldent even see any of the water...

  5. The crab part was very funny. I didn't know there was that much bags in the bay. That much bags can hurt the fish, seals, ducks, and more sea animals.

  6. I think that the way they expressed plastic pollution in this viedo can help people understand that plastic polution is growing and if you don't help stop it it will become like a wave that crashes over you and is so large you can't stop it. I have convinced my dad to start recycling. Now i'm trying to convince my mom.

  8. I think that the video is trying to tell us that if we keep throwing plastic bags out they will carry with the wind and fall into the ocean and if a lot of the bags go into the ocean it kills marine life and also the beaches would look very bad with plastic bags and cans everywhere with like it shows the tide of plastic bags going in and out and the lady walking on plastic bags. That could be what will happen if we pollute the world!

  9. The whole "Plastic Bag Ocean" thing really got my attention in this video and it made me think, theres actualy a place the size of Texas that looks like that in the middle of the ocean!!!! We, the people, need to reuse, reduce, and recycle more bags if we want to live in a safe, clean world. Its amazing how many bags end up in the bay, but its more amazing that we let so many bags end up in the bay! Me and my family try to use the same "grocery" bag as long as we can, until it rips, then, if we can, recycle it, but we know that it isn't enough to prevent this from happening. I hope that one day the government will pass a law that makes it mandatory to recycle.

  10. We all need to recyle more not just because of the water but also the land there is just so many places we can put the garbge. I saw something on TV about all the plastic pices turning up in the gulf, just circling around getting stuck there breacking into small pices that the fish and birds are eating and dying from. We all need to do our part to save what we can, to save what we have left.

  11. This takes a big tole in how we should all think about what just 1 plastic bag could lead up to. Our beautiful oceans, land, and our harmless animals should not all have to suffer because of what humans do. I think this is a great video that really shows how we all really need to think about what we do with trash. Plastic is very harmful to animals and our ocean because it could fall over a plant or an animal and cause the plant to loose sunlight and animals from getting to it, and it could cause the animal to sufficate and drown from not being able to get food, ect. So this could really show people that we need to take care of our earth and recycle.

  16. Wow that Video was really insperational i thought it showed really good effects on what would really happen in the future except the big Plastic Bag Wave. And the pulling the plastic bags out of the ear nose and mouth... but it was funny too. It does give out a really good Messege if only they showed it to everyone around the world...
